The Royal Opera House to broadcast series of ballet and opera live performances over November lockdown

#OurHousetoYourHouse

The Royal Opera House is excited to announce a series of live performance broadcasts, together with some much-loved repertory favourites from both The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera.

Following London’s move to Tier 4 status we have decided to cancel The Royal Ballet’s stream of The Nutcracker on Tuesday 22 December. This is very disappointing for our audiences and of course the Company and stage crew who worked tirelessly to bring this production together during this challenging time.

As a Christmas alternative and a moment to celebrate the artistry of the Company we’re replacing the relay of The Nutcracker with Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland from 2017. This much-loved production, a family favourite, features Lauren Cuthbertson as Alice, Federico Bonelli as the Knave of Hearts, James Hay as the White Rabbit, Steven McRae as the Mad Hatter and Laura Morera as the Queen of Hearts.

We hope you can join us for this special screening which will be on demand for 30 days. If you have already signed up to view The Nutcracker you will automatically receive access to the stream of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. If you have yet to sign up but would like to receive access, please register (click here) by midday on 22 December.

Thanks once again to all of our wonderful friends, staff, artists and our audiences for their continuing support during this challenging time.

The Royal Opera House recently announced its biggest ever programme of streaming and digital content, across a range of platforms, brought straight from our house to your house and available throughout the Christmas period.

With free online broadcasts from our archives, pay per view performances from our beautiful Covent Garden theatre, and an array of cultural highlights across Netflix, Now TV, YouTube, Scala Radio, Sky Arts, Marquee TV and the BBC, it has never been easier for audiences to access the world’s best ballet and opera anywhere, anytime.
