‘Are you sure that we are awake? It seems to me, that yet we sleep, we dream.‘
In HGO’s revitalization of Purcell’s masterpiece, The Fairy Queen, we meet an ensemble of fourteen performers, led through the evening by master storyteller, Puck, a photographer studying love through her camera lens. Purcell’s wonderful music takes us through the gamut of human emotions; each of his masques draws us into a different fantasy as we are transported into the photographer’s dream space where anything is possible. HGO is delighted to present the glorious music of Purcell’s Restoration extravaganza with our exciting young singers, tomorrow’s opera stars.
Fully staged, directed by Eloise Lally, with the baroque HGOAntiqua ensemble conducted by Seb Gillot, and with fabulous designs by Elin Steele, the production is in the intimate setting of Jacksons Lane Theatre, Highgate.
April 19, 20, 26, 27 at 19.30: April 21 and 28 at 16.00.
