A New York Reviewer Leaves Seen and Heard to Write Music Reviews for the New York Times

Congratulations are in order for our young reviewer from England who has been providing  brilliant reviews for Seen and Heard and for Bachtrack and is now writing reviews for the New York Times.

A PhD candidate at Columbia University (not in music), David  has shown a wisdom and maturity well beyond his age. He will be replacing another fine critic, Steve Smith, who has become an arts editor for the Boston Globe.

We will miss his coverage of the New York classical music scene but wish him the best in taking on one of the most prestigious positions a music critic of any age can acquire.

  1. Congratulations to David. I have read a number of his reviews and I am so impressed with how he can wed intellectual strength, wit, imagery and metaphor into one complex but lyrically flowing package.
