Every performance in Opera Philadelphia’s 2024-2025 Season will be available for $11, or a higher price of your choosing, as part of a new initiative called ‘Pick Your Price’. Anthony Roth Costanzo, the star countertenor who took the helm as General Director and President of Opera Philadelphia on 1 June 2024, announced the pioneering ticket program on 27 August.

‘Price can be a big barrier to entry at the opera, and ticket sales are a metric that too often determines how we program, how we engage and how we market. If we are worried about making sure we sell expensive tickets, it limits the possibility of who we reach and what we make’, Costanzo said. ‘Pick Your Price invites everyone to connect with Opera Philadelphia at a price that works for them’.

‘Pick Your Price’ goes into effect immediately, and tickets are available for all productions in the 2024-2025 Season, beginning with the American Premiere of The Listeners by Philadelphia-born composer Missy Mazzoli with a libretto by Royce Vavrek, which opens 25 September at the Academy of Music.

Mazzoli and Vavrek’s Breaking the Waves had its world premiere at Opera Philadelphia in 2016, and it received the Music Critics Association of North America’s inaugural Best New Opera Award. Their next opera, Lincoln in the Bardo, commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera, is slated to premiere at LA Opera in winter 2026 and at the Met in fall 2026.

Opera Philadelphia’s 2024-2025 Season continues with The Anonymous Lover by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, which opens on 31 January 2025, and Mozart’s Don Giovanni in April.
