To Hell and Back

Come and join Orpheus as he journeys to the underworld to rescue his wife – a quest that brings many adventures. A ‘promenade’ operatic journey for all the family – the like of which you will never have been on before. EPOC’s cast of professional soloists will take you to Hell and back through Central St. Martin’s spectacular new building at Kings Cross (including the Platform Theatre, Studio Theatre and ‘Street’). There will be nine scenes in different locations designed by nine up-and-coming young designers. Come and join the adventure!

The Project

Now in its seventh year, this project is a unique collaboration between an undergraduate course within an art school (within a university), an opera company, a theatre and several London schools. These performances are the second stage of a three-stage project which has already seen EPOC performing an introduction to opera in over fifty schools. The project culminates in an abridged performance of Orpheus and Eurydice with choirs from every Camden school and school orchestras (coached by the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment) at the Royal Albert Hall in March 2014.

English Pocket Opera Company (EPOC) is based in Primrose Hill Primary School, Camden.

English Pocket Opera Company (EPOC) and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) are both principal hub partners of Camden Music Service.
