In this year’s special festive programme, Sadler’s Wells presents both digital and live events for online and socially distanced audiences.

Festive celebrations begin on Saturday 5 December, with Sadler’s Wells Global Gala, broadcast free to watch via YouTube (more information below).

Breakin’ Convention returns with the brand-new show Social DisDancing on Friday 11 December and Saturday 12 December, featuring performances from AIM, the high-energy all female popping crew; a London premiere for Jamaal O’Driscoll, featuring b-boy Marius; and a world premiere from East London’s acclaimed Boy Blue.

Ballo Arthur Pita’s magical family favourite The Little Match Girl returns for Christmas from Thursday 17 December to Sunday 27 December, this year playing in Sadler’s Wells main theatre to allow social distancing for audiences to take place.

Bampton Classical Opera presents a seasonal concert at St Mary’s Church in Witney, Oxfordshire on Saturday 12 December at 4pm, to mark St Beornwald’s Day, the annual celebration of the patron saint of Bampton. The concert will feature two fine baroque pastoral Christmas cantatas: Alessandro Scarlatti’s ‘Non sò qual più m’ingombra’, and Antonio Caldara’s ‘Amarilli vezzosa’.

Garsington Opera has announced its 2021 season

GARSINGTON OPERA IN 2021

Der Rosenkavalier opens the season on 2 June and we welcome back Miah Persson, who triumphed in Strauss’s Capriccio in 2018, as the Marschallin, Hanna Hipp (Fantasio 2019) as Octavian and Soraya Mafi (Falstaff 2018) as Sophie. American bass-baritone makes his Garsington Opera debut as Baron Ochs and British mezzo-soprano Kitty Whately as Annina. Richard Burkhard (Fidelio 2020) is Faninal. Jordan de Souza also makes his debut conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra. Director Bruno Ravella (Falstaff 2018) is joined by designer Gary McCann and lighting designer Malcolm Rippeth for this new co-production with Irish National Opera.

The Hallé announces its Winter 2020-21 Season

THE HALLÉ IS BACK!

The Hallé is delighted to announce its Winter Season: nine concerts streamed from the Hallé’s Manchester homes, The Bridgewater Hall and Hallé St Peter’s in Ancoats.

The orchestra’s Music Director, Sir Mark Elder, who has been such a leading advocate for music during this time, will conduct five concerts alongside the family of Hallé conductors. They include Assistant Conductor and winner of the 2020 Siemens Hallé International Conductors Competition Delyana Lazarova, former Assistant Conductor Jonathon Heyward, Associate Pops Conductor Stephen Bell and Artist in Residence Henning Kraggerud. Special guest artists will include Jess Gillam, Isata Kanneh-Mason, Roderick Williams, Boris Giltburg and director Annabel Arden.
