United Kingdom RNCM Chamber Music Festival, Manchester 11th-13th January 2013
The Chamber Music Festival at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) the long weekend of the 11th-13th January sees a celebration of Beethoven’s chamber music. Included is a programme of lectures and workshops, alongside performances of various chamber music. The highlight of the 3 day festival is surely the selection of Beethoven’s string quartets performed by three of the world’s finest ensembles.
Friday 11th January at 7.30pm
The first major concert of the string quartet series begins in the RNCM Concert Hall with the distinguished Munich based Henschel Quartet playing a programme that pairs Beethoven’s String Quartet in F major, Op.51/1 with the immense five movement String Quartet in A minor, Op. 132.
Saturday 12th January at 7.30pm
Next it’s the turn of the renowned Talich Quartet from the Czech Republic playing a recital of Beethoven’s Ludwig van Beethoven String Quartet in E minor, Op 59/2, String Quartet in B flat major, Op. 130 and the Große Fuge in B flat major, Op 133.
Sunday 13th January at 7.30pm
Last but not least eminent British ensemble the Endellion Quartet play Beethoven’s String Quartet in F major, Op. 135, String Quartet in C major, Op. 59/3 and String Quartet in C sharp minor, Op. 131.

The Sitkovetsky Piano Trio appear in a programme of Beethoven Piano Trio in C minor, Op. 1/3 and Piano Trio in B flat major, Op. 97 ‘Archduke’.
Saturday 12th January at 2.00pm
Next the exceptional Gould Piano Trio play a programme of Beethoven’s Piano Trio in G major, Op. 1/2 and Piano Trio in E flat major, Op. 70/2.
Sunday 13th January at 2.00pm
Finally a recital by the newly formed Cropper/Prause/Young Piano Trio playing Beethoven’s Piano Trio in E flat major, Op. 1/1 and Piano Trio in D major, Op. 70/1 ‘Ghost’.
