Eboracum Baroque’s Autumn and Winter season is an ambitious programme of events that will feature high quality concerts including dazzling choral works and intimate chamber music recitals.

As a small ensemble, Eboracum have supported young freelance musicians throughout the pandemic with virtual projects, online streamed concerts and a recording of Handel’s Messiah. They have given outdoor performances at the historic Orchard Tea Garden in Granchester to sold out audiences in the summer of 2020 and 2021.

These upcoming concerts mark the return to their performances indoors with an audience and they will visit favourite venues including Great St Mary’s, Cambridge and York Mansion House. Their new recording of Handel’s Messiah will be officially launched on Saturday 18th December in Cambridge.

G.F HANDEL’S DIXIT DOMINUS & VIVALDI’S GLORIA: A concert celebrating two of the most remarkable Italian baroque composers – Handel and Vivaldi. Handel’s dazzling Dixit Dominus is full of virtuosity, vibrant colour and dynamic energy featuring soloists, chorus and period instrument orchestra. This is paired with Vivaldi’s ever popular, Gloria. Oboist Katie Lewis features in a fiery concerto by Vivaldi originally for the violin. Friday 23rd October 2021, 7.30pm, Great St Mary’s, Cambridge

A BAROQUE CHRISTMAS, YORK: Eboracum return to our founding city to present an exciting festive concert in collaboration with York Gin. This will be performed in the beautiful 18th century surroundings of York Mansion House. We’re delighted to be working with York Gin again after our virtual collaborations in 2020. The programme features seasonal vocal and instrumental works including arias from Handel’s Messiah, a pastoral recorder concerto by Telemann, Bach’s joyous music for soprano and trumpet (Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen) and traditional French Christmas carols by Charpentier. A BAROQUE CHRISTMAS, STAMFORD: The programme features seasonal vocal and instrumental works including arias from Handel’s Messiah, a pastoral recorder concerto by Telemann, Bach’s joyous music for soprano and trumpet (Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen) and traditional French Christmas carols by Charpentier. Eboracum baroque are returning to Stamford after a sellout performance at the Stamford Georgian Festival in 2019. Saturday 4th December 2021, 7.30pm, St Martin’s Church, Stamford.

HANDEL’S MESSIAH BY CANDLELIGHT, MALVERN: Relax in the run up to Christmas as we return to Great Malvern for the first time in two years to perform Handel’s Messiah. This masterpiece was originally composed in 1742 and is now one of the most performed works of classical music of all time, featuring many of Handel’s most famous choruses and arias notably the Hallelujah chorus. HANDEL’S MESSIAH BY CANDLELIGHT,  CAMBRIDGE – CD LAUNCH CONCERT ; We are delighted to be returning to Great St Mary’s Church in Cambridge to perform Handel’s Messiah, where there are accounts of Handel’s oratorios being performed in the 18th century. This masterpiece was originally composed in 1742 and is now one of the most performed works of classical music of all time, featuring many of Handel’s most famous choruses and arias notably the Hallelujah chorus. This masterpiece was originally composed in 1742 and is now one of the most performed works of classical music of all time, featuring many of Handel’s most famous choruses and arias notably the Hallelujah chorus. The programme features seasonal vocal and instrumental works including arias from Handel’s Messiah, a pastoral recorder concerto by Telemann, Bach’s joyous music for soprano and trumpet (Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen) and traditional French Christmas carols by Charpentier. AN EBORACUM CHRISTMAS, ONLINE: A surprise concert! We will be releasing this concert via our YouTube and Facebook pages for everyone who follows us to enjoy. Throughout the pandemic it has been amazing to welcome audiences online from across the world including Peru, Italy, USA and Germany. This concert will feature a variety of seasonal pieces including some exclusive choral performances filmed at Canons Ashby Priory in 2021. Thursday 23rd December 2021, 7.30pm, ONLINE via YouTube and Facebook.

About us: Eboracum Baroque is an ensemble of young professional singers and instrumentalists, described as ‘Spectacular’ by Classic FM. The group was formed in 2012 by Chris Parsons at the University of York and has performed across the UK and Europe in prestigious venues and festivals including Senate House, Cambridge, The Temple Church, London and Christuskirche, Hannover. As well as their concert performances, they have given fully staged performances of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Handel’s Acis and Galatea.
